The Lexington Warehouse project consists of 21 tobacco curing and shipping warehouses built in 1938. These warehouses include approximately 104,000 board feet (each) of extremely clean and straight southern yellow pine

(no nails, not treated, not painted).

 

Wood from these warehouses consists of 3 components:

G.F. Vaughan Tobacco Warehouses.

This series of 21 connected warehouses separated by a 3 foot thick firewall is being deconstructed by hand and small machines and tools.

Each roof must be stripped of a tar and the aggregate built-up roof.

All nails and bolts are removed from the decking material.


Dimensions are as follows:

  • beams - 8"x 12" x 18 ft

  • posts - 8"x 8"x 12 ft

  • decking - (2.75"x 5" x 20 ft) and (2.75"x 7" x 20 ft)
